3 Ways to Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Your comfort zone, as the name suggests, is a place where you feel comfortable, familiar and unchallenged.  It’s also often the place where you experience minimal progress or personal growth.  After a while a comfort zone can become mundane and uninspiring.  Stepping out of your comfort zone involves stepping out in faith and taking proper risks in pursuit of all that God has planned for you.  It may seem frightening at first but, once you’ve overcome the discomfort threshold, you’ll find out that it was worthwhile.

Here are 3 ways you can step out of your comfort zone and into all that God has waiting for you..

Trust in God’s Ability

“Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” – 2 Corinthians 3:5 NIV

If you want to make progress or experience personal growth, you must be willing to do something that you’ve never done before.  God may give you a vision that seems daunting or may simply ask you to do something that you know is well beyond your natural abilities.  Don’t let fear hold you back from fulfilling your God-given destiny.  Have an “I can do” attitude to new challenges by trusting in God’s ability working through you to get the task done.

Get Directions

“Then God said, “You’ve been going around in circles in these hills long enough; go north.” – Deuteronomy 2:3 MEV

If you’ve been going around in circles for a while, it’s likely that you need some clarity and direction on how to move to the next level.  Let God speak into your situation and give you the necessary roadmap or strategy on what your next move should be.  Ask Him for direction, He will be faithful to respond but you need to be willing to follow through with your actions.

Challenge Yourself

“And without faith it is impossible to please God..” – Hebrews 11:6

Sometimes all you need is something to inspire or motivate you to step out of your comfort zone. Perhaps it’s time to expand your vision or think bigger.  Challenge yourself by setting and going after faith goals which line up with God’s purpose for you in this season.
