The bible really is the best book on business management. Here are a few powerful scriptures that can be applied in the marketplace:
Proverbs 22:29 – “Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.” (AMP)
If you manage your business diligently and with skill, this scripture promises that you will stand in the midst of influence and prominence instead of obscurity.
Luke 16:10 – “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.” (NLT)
This scripture is a reminder to run your business faithfully, no matter it’s size. Don’t wait until your business grows, prove that you can handle responsibility in the early stages, then God will see to it that your business expands.
Proverbs 10:4 – “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” (NIV)
Another reminder to be diligent when it comes to running your business. Laziness will not reap any rewards. You need to be willing to put in some effort and persevere to produce wealth.
Zechariah 4:9-10 – “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; his hands will also complete it. …..Who dares despise the day of small things” (NIV)
The early days when your business is still quite small are the days when the seeds are being sown and foundations are being laid. If you persevere, you will surely reap the dividends.
1 Tim 5:18 – “For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,”and “The worker deserves his wages.” (NIV)
Don’t take advantage of your staff, pay them what they are due. A godly employer should be a fair employer.
Psalm 127:1 – “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” (NIV)
Unless the Lord builds your business, there’s no guarantee of its success. Make Him your no. 1 partner in any business endeavour.
Deut 8:18 – “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” (NIV)
Always remember God as your provider and honour Him as such. Don’t fall into the temptation of thinking that your hard work was all that led to your success.
Psalm 1:1-3 – “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked…..but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” (NIV)
This scripture gives us the image of fruitfulness and productivity, which comes as a result of applying Kingdom principles to excel.
Habukkuk 2:3 – “And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by.” (AMP)
A crucial aspect in running any business is to have a clear vision and strategy for that business. A clear vision allows you to set goals and work towards achieving them.
Philippians 4:13 – “I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” (AMP)
Human strength alone won’t guarantee lasting business success. It’s the anointing of Christ which makes all the difference and enables you to produce extraordinary results.
Proverbs 16:3 – “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” (NIV)
In business, be sure to dedicate your plans to the Lord and allow Him to guide you in making wise decisions.
Proverbs 21:5 – “The plans of the diligent lead to profit, as surely as haste leads to poverty.”
Be wary of “get rich quick” schemes, impatience or hastily thought out plans, as these things usually lead to financial loss. Diligence and perseverance lead to lasting profit.
